Northern Valley communities will remember the ultimate sacrifices made by those fighting men and women of the United States armed forces who died in service on Monday, May 29, Memorial Day.
In Alpine, the borough’s annual Memorial Day Parade will line up at 10:30 a.m. at the volunteer fire department (94 Church St.). The parade starts at 11 a.m., and goes takes a route to the memorial rock on Monument Lane, where a service will honor those who gave theirs lives in service to the country. Afterwards, residents are invited to borough hall for hamburgers and hot dogs.
The parade starts from the St. Mary’s parking lot (Legion Place) and heads to High Street heading east. The route bears left onto Closter Dock Road, past the Closter Borough Hall, and proceeds west on Closter Dock Road towards Harrington Avenue. Parade concludes at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
The Memorial Day Ceremony will immediately following the parade at Veteran’s Memorial Park. All parade participants and spectators are invited to the Closter Elks Lodge for free refreshments at the conclusion of the ceremony.

In Englewood, the city will host its Memorial Day parade and ceremony at the Soldier’s Monument. The parade lineup starts at 9:30 a.m. and the service will commence at 10 a.m. The parade will head to Veteran’s Memorial Park. The rain location is the municipal court.
In Englewood Cliffs, there will be a Memorial Day service at the borough’s volunteer fire department (475 Sylvan Ave.) at 9:30 a.m. on Memorial Day.
Harrington Park's Memorial Day parade begins at the Harrington Park School at 9:30 a.m. and will run until noon.
The Haworth parade begins at noon, with participants lining up at 11:30 a.m. at the Hardenburgh Firehouse. The parade will march to borough hall, where there will be a memorial service at 12:45 p.m. Following the parade is the borough's annual Memorial Day picnic at the pond. The picnic is free and complimentary hot dogs will be served.
Northvale will be holding its Memorial Day Parade at 11 a.m. The procession will begin at the Northvale School, located on Tappan Road and continue south to Paris Avenue. The parade will proceed to the American Legion building, located on Paris Avenue. A ceremony, with refreshments, will follow. In case of rain, ceremonies will be held indoors at the Northvale School gymnasium followed by refreshments at the American Legion. All members of the public are welcome. A memorial ceremony for fallen comrades will be conducted in the front of the Legion Home.
Norwood's parade begins at 11 a.m. The parade begins on Summit Street by the school and ends at Kennedy Park. Following the parade, refreshments will be served at the American Legion across the street from the park.
Old Tappan will have a parade beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorial services will be held immediately following the parade at Oakes Park.
Tenafly’s Memorial Day Parade will kick-off from George Street at 10 a.m. The parade will conclude at Huyler Park across from the Tenafly Railroad Station. A ceremony will be held at this time honoring Tenafly’s war veterans. The Tenafly Elks Lodge 2271 invites you for refreshments and hot dogs after the ceremonies at their location on 20 Franklin St.
