Woman struck by NJT train, dies

WESTWOOD—A spokesman for NJ Transit confirms that at Monday at approximately 9:47 a.m., Pascack Valley line train 1605, which departed Hoboken at 8:56 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Spring Valley, N.Y. at 10:10, struck and fatally injured an adult female pedestrian at the intersection of Broadway and Jefferson Avenue.

There were no reported injuries to the crew and 30 customers on board, the spokesman said. 

He added Pascack Valley line service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Spring Valley and New Bridge Landing. New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation.

The woman was declared dead at the scene. Westwood police were seen diverting traffic amid the investigation.
