Part-Time Newspaper Reporter (Public Affairs)

Job Description:
We seek a part-time public affairs reporter to cover Pascack Valley-area government actions, civic issues, and community events. Your reporting will foster transparency and accountability in public affairs. Work is at our newsroom in Westwood, and remote.

Responsibilities:
— Attend local government meetings, including borough/township council sessions, school board meetings, and town hall gatherings.
— Research and report on governmental decisions and policies and their community impact.
— Interview officials and community stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives.
— Write clear, engaging articles that inform and educate our readers about local governance, including elections.
— Adhere to deadlines and editorial standards, maintaining journalistic integrity.

Qualifications:
— Strong writing and communication skills.
— Passion for public affairs journalism and community service.
— Ability to analyze complex issues and convey them clearly.
— Excellent research abilities and commitment to factual accuracy.
— Previous journalism experience preferred.

Schedule and Compensation:
Part-time, flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends. Compensation based on experience, and hours could increase based on fit.
