18th Annual Family Movie Night, Cop Camp Out Aug. 24

Emerson families were happy campers at the 2018 Cop Camp Out, held overnight at Benkovic Field. The event returns Aug. 24.

EMERSON, N.J.—The Emerson Police Department hosts its 18th Annual Open House, Family Movie, and Cop Camp Out on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The event is open to all Emerson residents and consists of free rides, giveaways, games, and, of course, food.

Members of the department will grill hamburgers and hot dogs and serve water, soda, ice tea, lemonade, popcorn, and EPD’s  zeppolis.

The event begins at 4 p.m. with an open house. A police demonstration show is at 7. The family movie runs approximately 8 to 10.

The fun continues with the registration-only Cop Camp Out. Forms for this are available at Emerson Police Headquarters.

Campsites will be set up on Benkovic Field. Break out your tents, sleeping bags, and camping gear and let the fun begin.

Game trucks will be on site for the kids to play video games on a large screen at 10.

A campfire and a second movie start at midnight.

The event concludes with a continental breakfast for all in the morning.

The campout—again, this part of the fun is by registration only—is held on an enclosed field and will be monitored by police throughout the night.
