ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—Police are seeking the suspect in an alleged criminal sexual contact case after a man reportedly placed his hands on the breast and upper thigh of a woman at the Vivian Apartments’ indoor pool on June 1 at 4:33 p.m., Capt. Gregory Halstead said.
A female victim said she was seated in a chair at the pool when the suspect approached, rapidly moving his hands “up and down” near the center of his torso, Halstead said.
“The male suspect seated himself a short while later on a small table, which was in close proximity to where the female victim was seated. He then motioned to her and tapped his upper thigh in what the victim believes was an attempt entice her to seat herself on his lap,” said Halstead. “The victim ignored the suspect and attempted to distance herself from him; however, he stood up, took out his wallet and showed her cash. The victim continued in her efforts to retreat from the suspect; however, the suspect stepped towards her and placed his hands on her right breast and upper thigh area.
The victim was able to forcibly remove the suspect’s hands from her body, as she yelled to alert others to the incident,” said Halstead. “The suspect apparently became startled and hastily left the area. The victim reported the incident to the Vivian Apartment staff; however, they were unable to identify the suspect.”
The suspect is described as an Asian man, about 5-foot-6 with black hair and last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark pants, Halstead said. The suspect spoke no English, smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and had yellow-stained teeth, Halstead said.
