TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.––The Washington Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps is always looking for new members to fully staff the ambulance. EMT and recruiting coordinator Robert Fox writes to say the ambulance was brought to the mall to attract attention and offer tours to interested shoppers on Aug. 5.
Several residents took advantage of the event to see the rig and learn about the corps and its lifesaving functions. Children were especially excited to see the lights and hear the siren, Fox says.
And, best of all, several applications were taken in from residents from 16 to 80, including two from a mother and daughter.
“Potential new members and being visible to the community made this event so important. Providing outreach to the community allows those who have an interest in becoming involved in joining to do so,” Fox says.
He adds, “Thank you to all who made this event possible and to all those who came forward to participate, with a special thanks to the DiChiara family for making this event space possible.”
