Ambulette driver — and patient, 80 — injured in collision with pickup

TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON—An 80-year-old patient in an ambulette, and the driver taking her to care, were hospitalized following a collision with a Nissan Frontier in front of 731 Washington Ave., at Meisten Street near Seasons, the morning of Monday, Oct. 4.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Freelance photographer Boyd A. Loving was on the scene and told Pascack Press that the ambulette driver, a 46-year-old man, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center main campus; his patient was taken to nearby Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood.

The Frontier driver is from Park Ridge and reportedly declined medical attention.

Westwood EMS and Metro Ambulance were responders. The township had the only police presence on the scene. Bergen Brookside Auto Body & Towing was tow company.

Metro Ambulance, based in Hackensack, is a medical transportation provider licensed by the state Department of Health and Senior Services.
