Young girls pose in father’s roadster in this classic Roaring Twenties photo snapped in Haworth. The teenagers are trendy with their cropped locks and headbands, while the little girl (a younger sister?) sports the type of huge hair bow that kids were still wearing at the time.
The building in the background is the original Congregational Church, viewed from behind in this image looking toward Haworth Avenue. Built in 1908, this church stood until 1965. It was torn down after the present brick church was constructed.
This week back in 1925, the Men’s Forum of the Congregational Church met to discuss the topic, “Has the enfranchisement of women benefited politics?” Women in America had been enfranchised—gained the right to vote—five years earlier. We can only wonder at their verdict!
