TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.—Support is growing far and wide for the survivors of Sgt. 1st Class Michael James Goble, 33, a U.S. Special Forces soldier, who died in Afghanistan on Dec. 23, 2019 due to injuries sustained during combat operations in Kunduz Province on Dec. 22.
Goble, born on Jan. 13, 1986, was raised in the township then graduated from Westwood Regional High School in 2004. He was a senior intelligence sergeant assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
On March 15 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Westwood Regional High School is opening its doors to help host a benefit: New Jersey boxing champion Julian Rodriguez, aka Hammer Hands, will be boxing live on site, along with his trainer, Alex Devia.
This is an event not to be missed. Donations are $25 per person at the door, and $5 per raffle ticket. An auction for gift certificates, movie tickets, spa days, and more is promised. All of the proceeds will benefit Jen, Goble’s partner of 12 years, and their daughter, 6.
Junior welterweight Rodriguez is dedicating his March 17 bout at MSG to Goble.
