Bergen County launches FIFA World Cup ticket lottery for first responders

Bergen County 2026

HACKENSACK—Bergen County has announced a ticket lottery that will award 25 pairs of tickets to upcoming FIFA World Cup matches to eligible first responders who live in Bergen County.

County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners said the lottery is open to active police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel who reside in Bergen County and are employed by, assigned to, or volunteer with a Bergen County municipal or public safety agency.

The ticket pairs will be distributed for three matches scheduled at New Jersey New York Stadium: the June 27 group-stage match between Panama and England, a Round of 32 match on June 30, and a Round of 16 match on July 5.

The tickets are being made available through a partnership involving Gov. Mikie Sherrill, the FIFA World Cup 2026 New York New Jersey Host Committee, Choose New Jersey, and their corporate and community partners.

“As the host county for eight FIFA World Cup matches, including the Final, Bergen County’s first responders will play a critical role in helping ensure the success of this historic event,” Tedesco said. “These tickets are a meaningful way to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice of the men and women who serve our communities every day.”

Commission Chairman Steven Tanelli said first responders will be asked to do a great deal throughout the tournament and that the county is pleased to help provide the opportunity.

Interested applicants may enter the lottery by completing an online application.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. The lottery drawing will take place June 25, and winners will be notified directly.

All submissions will undergo an eligibility review. Only applicants whose residency and first responder status can be verified will be entered into the randomized drawing.
