
HACKENSACK — The Bergen250 Program, through the Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs, will host five free events in October spotlighting Bergen County’s Revolutionary War role and its ongoing cultural contributions.
The county’s initiative commemorates the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and aims to engage residents through lectures, performances, and community programming.
“Bergen County is proud to offer a rich variety of cultural, historical, and recreational programming that the whole family can enjoy,” County Executive James Tedesco III said. “From celebrating our Revolutionary War history to showcasing the incredible talents of local artists and musicians, these free events bring our community together and highlight the unique heritage that makes Bergen County so special.”

- Oct. 8 — Revolutionary Roundtable: Bob Gula presents on the 1780 Battle of Springfield. 7 p.m., 4th Floor Learning Center, One Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack.
- Oct. 11 — Art in the Park: The 61st annual outdoor exhibit and concert features more than 100 visual artists, plus music by Dean Shot and guest saxophonist Greg Piccolo. 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Van Saun County Park, Paramus.
- Oct. 11 — “The Garden of America”: Historian Robert Selig, Ph.D., offers an illustrated talk on Franco-American encounters during Rochambeau’s 1781 march through Mahwah. 4:30 p.m., 201 Franklin Turnpike, Mahwah.
- Oct. 12 — RevNJ 5K & Family Fun Walk: Hosted by RevolutionNJ, the race invites participants to connect with Revolutionary history at Ramapo Valley County Reservation. Start time 8:30 a.m. Details: RevNJ.org/Events.
- Oct. 26 — Music at the Barn: The Cider Barn Band closes the 2025 series with its 15th annual bluegrass performance featuring Kenny Kosek, Barry Mitterhof, Joe Selly, Marty Cutler, and Marty Confurius. 1:30 p.m., Wortendyke Barn Museum, 13 Pascack Road, Park Ridge.
