TEANECK, N.J—In recognition of Black History Month, Holy Name Medical Center is hosting a day of complimentary health screenings and seminars on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We are working hard to close the health disparity gaps among black men and women through education and prevention,” said Hilda Ventimiglia, MSN, RN, Center for Healthy Living manager at Holy Name. “Some common conditions that disproportionately affect the African American community include stroke, high blood pressure, certain cancers, and diabetes among other illnesses. This event has drawn hundreds in years past, so we are excited to continue to connect with our community.”
Screenings include blood work, blood pressure, BMI, bone density, vein screening, diabetic risk assessment and medication review. There will also be meet and greet opportunities with Holy Name’s physicians and specialists, following a series of lectures focused on hypertension and kidney disease, sick cell disease, uterine fibroids, and cervical cancer.
Live entertainment will be provided by The New York City Love & Soul Band featuring Reggie Pittman. Food will be served.
There is no cost to attend the event. It takes place at Holy Name Medical Center, Marian Hall, 718 Teaneck Road, Teaneck.
