WESTWOOD—You’re invited to enjoy food, fun, and festivities on Saturday, Sept. 18 from noon to 3 p.m. at Parkside Community Church, 3rd Avenue and Park.
The annual event was cancelled last year due to Covid but has been a great way for neighbors to come together, celebrate the beginning of a new school year, and participate in family friendly games for all ages.
According to church elder and food pantry coordinator Lisa Bontemps, the pandemic has kept many people isolated and without enough opportunities “to really get out and be around others in a safe environment. Our church leadership felt it was time to get back to enjoying outdoor gatherings again in a safe manner that we are offering at this party.”
She added, “Parkside has been serving a good number of local residents over the past year with their weekly hot meal and food pantry distributions. This is our chance to serve the community in a new way—by enjoying good fellowship and fun together.”
The party will include grilled burgers and hot dogs along with a variety of traditional picnic fare. For planning purposes, register at http://parksidechurch.net or by leaving a message with your name, number, and headcount at (201) 666-8998.
