Bozzone is Park Ridge Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal

PARK RIDGE, N.J.—Commander Joseph Collery of the Cpl. Jedh C. Barker Memorial Post 153 American Legion announces that he has named Park Ridge resident Dick Bozzone to be the grand marshal of the 2019 Tri-Boro Memorial Day Parade.

This year Bozzone became a 60-year member of the American Legion, an honor for the U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War era. Bozzone, a past commander, is post historian.

He was chairman and then co-chairman of the Tri-Boro Memorial Day Parade for 14 years. He has also been chairman of the borough’s Patriot Day observance, Veterans Day ceremonies, Pearl Harbor ceremonies, and the Four Chaplins program, and was recently appointed chairman of the post’s 100th anniversary celebration, in progress.

Bozzone also was grand marshal of the 1979 Jersey City Memorial Day Parade and the 1982 WWII Liberty State Park Parade.

He was commander of the American Korean War Veterans, Chorwon Chapter, for five years and is an honorary member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Organization.

He is married to the former Dorothy Aste of Park Ridge, historian of Auxiliary Unit 15.

This year’s Tri-Boro Memorial Day Parade, May 27, celebrates the 100th anniversary of Post 153, organized September 1919.

The ceremonies, rain or shine, will be held in Park Ridge, Montvale and Woodcliff Lake.  The parade starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with assembly immediately following the memorial ceremonies. It commences in Montvale, transits Park Ridge, and terminates in Woodcliff Lake.

Again this year, Post 153 leads the line of march. Jim Miller is chairman.
