ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—The Englewood Historical Society (EHS) will be hosting a book launch party on April 28, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., for its new publication, “Extraordinary Englewood” by Hillary Viders. The free event is open to the public and will include a book signing and refreshments.
“The Englewood Historical Society is so proud of our wonderful new book, ‘Extraordinary Englewood,’ a 166-page, full-color compendium of 75 interviews and photos by feature writer Hillary Viders for the Northern Valley Press,” said Irmari Nacht, co-president of the EHS. “As an historical society, we are not only interested in the marvelous buildings that give character to our town, but we also want to know about the characters who play a role in shaping our community.”
In 2016, when Viders realized how many interesting people lived in Englewood, encouraged by Northern Valley Press’ editor Tom Clancey, she began writing a question and answer column about the city’s exceptional people. Former Mayor Sandy Greenberg gave her names, each person interviewed then gave her more names, and now three years later, this memorable book features 75 people, pioneers, innovators, and leaders from diverse backgrounds and fields of expertise.
This group of interesting people, whose ages range from their 20s to 101, is now a part of Englewood’s fascinating history.
The public is invited to join EHS members and “Extraordinary Englewood” interviewees at the book launch party on April 28 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Englewood Library, 31 Engle St., Englewood, at which time books will be available for purchase. Hillary Viders as well as many Extraordinary Englewoodians will be present to sign books. Even if you have already purchased your copy of “Extraordinary Englewood,” you are welcome to attend and enjoy complimentary refreshments as we celebrate this milestone publication.
