TENAFLY, N.J.—The Tenafly Nature Center invites the community to its annual Nature Day Celebration on Sunday, June 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It’s a great way to welcome the warm weather in the great outdoors, and it’s close to home, too, organizers say.
The center stewards nearly 400 acres of preserved woods on the western slope of the Palisades in Tenafly. To attend, it’s $5 for members or $10 for non-members.
Activities will include: canoe rides on Pfister’s Pond; birds of prey presentations; bat presentations with the New Jersey Batman; flower planting and plant science with the Mahwah Environmental Volunteer Organization; nature art with the Teaneck Creek Conservancy; admittance to the TNC butterfly house; bee keeping with Northern New Jersey Beekeepers; fire by friction workshops with Urban Kid Adventurers; kids sing-a-longs, animal encounters, and story times; and electronic recycling with RecycleIT.
There will also be a beer garden supplied by New Jersey brewery Brix City. Lunch will be available for herbivores and carnivores, as well as ice cream from Metropolitan Ice Cream.
