MONTVALE, N.J.—The Pascack Hills High School Chamber Choir had the honor of performing the national anthem before the New York Yankees game on May 21 at Yankee Stadium, showcasing the talent and dedication of one of Bergen County’s premier high school vocal ensembles.
Led by acclaimed choral director Margarita Elkin, the auditioned Chamber Choir delivered a stirring rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before thousands of fans gathered in the Bronx for the evening matchup.
The performance provided students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Pascack Hills High School, the Pascack Valley Regional High School District, and the local community on one of the most iconic stages in professional sports.
The appearance at Yankee Stadium is the latest accomplishment for the Chamber Choir, which has earned recognition through prestigious adjudicated music festivals and performance programs. Under Elkin’s leadership, the ensemble has received top honors at regional and national festivals and has built a reputation for musical excellence, artistic achievement, and community engagement.
“The opportunity to perform at Yankee Stadium was an incredible experience for our students,” said Elkin. “They worked tirelessly to prepare for this moment, and I couldn’t be prouder of the professionalism, musicianship, and enthusiasm they displayed on such a significant stage.”
The Chamber Choir is one of several vocal ensembles within the Pascack Hills music program and is composed of student singers who audition for membership. The ensemble performs throughout the year at school concerts, community events, and competitive festivals, consistently earning praise for its musical quality and commitment to excellence.
The May 21 performance highlighted not only the students’ vocal talents but also the strength of the arts programs within the Pascack Valley Regional High School District. As the final notes of the national anthem echoed throughout Yankee Stadium, choir members proudly represented their school and community before one of the most recognizable franchises in sports.
