CLOSTER, N.J. —— Music filled the air as the Closter Christmas tree lights glowed against the dark December sky on Thursday, Dec. 7. Mayor John Glidden flicked the tree’s switch, beginning the celebration. Familiar holiday songs were performed by the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts with the appreciative crowd singing along.

The New Jersey Harvest Church Choir expanded the musical selections, followed by the ever-popular Blue Chip Chorus of Bergen County with their unmistakable a capella sounds of the season.

The Christmas creche drew the interest of some youngsters attending the Closter tree lighting program.

Everyone was invited inside historic borough hall to continue the festivities with refreshments, photos with Santa, and more musical performances provided by the Good Neighbor Ministry Ensemble and others. The evening was well-received by all thanks to the efforts of the Closter Police, fire department, ambulance corps, the DPW and the Closter Improvement Commission.
