To the editor:
I am writing to offer my full support for the re-election of Closter Councilmembers Vicky Amitai and Joseph Yammarino this Nov. 5. I had the pleasure of working for Closter with both Vicky and Joe when I was a member of council. I know firsthand how they both take their roles and responsibilities very seriously while truly working hard for Closter.
John Kennedy once said, “A rising tide lifts all boats,” and this has certainly been true for Closter. Under the leadership of Mayor John Glidden, with the aid of Vicky Amitai and Joseph Yammarino, we have experienced an improved quality of life for all of Closter’s residents and have seen an increased value of our homes.
Over the past three years, Closter has gained protection from over-development, reduced the municipal tax rate, and has experienced more than a 25% increase in the average Closter home value. Closter has upheld its rate of excellence within our school system, provides lovely public green spaces, and has a recreation program that is one of the best in the Northern Valley, all run and organized by volunteers. With the re-birth of the Closter Plaza, we are once again, “the economic hub” of the Northern Valley.
Vicky and Joe, as members of your council, along with our Mayor John Glidden, made these things happen. Without their hard work, these benefits could not have occurred. I want Vicky and Joe to be able to keep working for Closter, for the benefit of all of Closter. This is why I feel it is so very important to keep Vicky Amitai and Joseph Yammarino on the Closter Council, continuing to work for us all.
I hope you will join me on Nov. 5 to vote for Vicky and Joe, it will be a vote for continued progress.
