COMMUNITY VOICES: Grateful For Poppy Drive Support

Showing their appreciation.

To the editor:

American Legion Post 162 of Hillsdale, Woodcliff Lake and Old Tappan presented certificates of appreciation to four local businesses that provided strong support for our annual poppy drive in May.

Their support allowed us to collect donations from the public  for our activities to help those serving on active duty and their families, as well as military veterans in need.

In addition to allowing us to help fund the Bergen County Backpack program for veterans in need, we are able to target funds for local veterans and organizations that support them, such as NJ State Veterans Home in Paramus.   Pictured with Vice Commander Mike Gela, our Poppy Program chair, are the store managers who provided us with this help.

Clockwise from top left, they are Mike Winsehuch of Acme in Woodcliff Lake, Matt Cavanaugh of Nicholas Markets Foodtown in Washington Township, Melissa Franco of Kings in Hillsdale, and Ted Strangfeld of Bottle King in Hillsdale. We thank them for their support.
