To the editor:
Emerson’s voters couldn’t possibly find two better choices for borough council than Republican candidates Jill McGuire and Nicole Argenzia. As a councilman I’ve had the good fortune of serving with Jill this past year, since she was chosen to fill the seat vacated by now-mayor Danielle DiPaola. In my seven years of serving on the council, I’ve seen few elected officials as hard-working as Jill. Her commitment to open government is proven by the crucial role she played in getting all council meetings televised.
I’ve known Nicole since I was the council’s liaison to the Board of Health, on which she’s served for many years, now as its president. I have no doubt that Nicole will be an asset to the governing body, bringing with her the compassion, positive attitude and exceptional work ethic she is known for.
Jill and Nicole are also strongly endorsed by Mayor DiPaola and Councilman Brian Gordon. Since being elected last November, the three of us have worked hard trying to manage the mess created by the previous administration—not an easy task. But that task will be impossible if Jill and Nicole’s opponents are elected, since they both vocally supported the big four-story redevelopment in the downtown. As a councilman, Brian Downing consistently and enthusiastically voted for it.
Emerson’s had enough of elected officials who ignore the wishes of the residents. If you want officials who work for you, then the only choice is to vote for Jill McGuire and Nicole Argenzia on Nov. 5.
