To the editor:
If I were told at this time last year that in October of 2019 I would be a sitting councilwoman seeking to retain my seat in the upcoming election, I would have chuckled! Last year, I was among the supporters of DiPaola, Gordon, and Hoffman as they sought to halt aggressive practices of the Lamatina administration. The trio was successful, sweeping the election.
Soon after, I was asked to be a candidate to fill the new mayor’s vacated council seat. In January 2019 I was chosen councilwoman by a unanimous bipartisan council vote.
It’s an honor to serve the residents. I take my role seriously. My tenure this year has provided the opportunity to work on numerous projects. One of Mayor DiPaola’s longterm goals as councilwoman was to bring government to the people by televising meetings. I am proud to say I was able to bring this goal to fruition.
I also worked on numerous collaborative projects, such as the Street Smart pedestrian safety program with the Emerson Police Department and lead testing program with the Department of Health.
When the Recreation Commission approved a new track program but did not have allotted funding for the sport, as liaison I was able to collaborate with administration, mayor, and council to ensure this new program started off successfully!
Nicole, with her impressive community service background, is equally committed, passionate, and skilled. We are excited for what lies ahead! I respectfully request your support this Nov. 5 for McGuire and Argenzia.
