To the editor:

I was born and raised in Englewood, attended the Englewood Public Schools and graduated from Dwight Morrow High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management from Johnson and Wales University and I am currently a director of human resources in the hospitality industry.

I have served on several boards and committees for the City of Englewood, including the Board of Adjustment, Rent Leveling Board and the 1999 Englewood Centennial Committee.

I also served as an elected member of the Englewood Democratic Municipal Committee for over 12 years.

I am running for the Englewood Board of Education because I know we can and must do better to provide a quality educational experience for all our children.

We deserve board members that will return confidence to our schools, by creating a culture of integrity, accountability and inclusiveness. We deserve board members who will support our teachers and administrators with the tools and resources needed to provide every child the best education. We deserve board members who will engage and build trust with our parents and community through collaboration and communication. We deserve board members who will set goals and establish policy that are aimed to provide the highest quality and diverse education to prepare every child for success.

We deserve board members who will hold every person within our school district, including board members, accountable.

We deserve board members who will be good stewards of our tax dollars, prioritizing, and eliminating wasteful spending.

We deserve competent board members who are educated and informed, by attending mandatory training, to ensure we are following the law and doing what’s right.

We need school board members who will work for all our children. I will fight to ensure that every child receives the highest quality education. I will work to create an environment and culture that is conducive to teaching and learning, creating a positive experience for all students, teachers, administrators and parents. We need change to restore competence and confidence to the Englewood Public School District.
