WESTWOOD, N.J.— The Borough Council will meet Tuesday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall, 101 Washington Ave., with a full agenda that includes proclamations, ordinances, committee updates, and multiple personnel actions.

Among the evening’s highlights:

  • Nicholas Doell will present an Eagle Scout project for the council’s consideration and feedback.
  • A proclamation will mark the 25th anniversary of the Westwood Community Band.
  • The council is expected to introduce Ordinance 25-21, appropriating $13,000 from the capital surplus fund to replace the Berkley Avenue/Lockerby Lane walkway.
  • Two ordinances are up for adoption: one updating fire prevention regulations (25-20), and another amending parking prohibitions (25-19).
  • A series of resolutions are scheduled under the consent agenda, including several hires (a police officer, a SLEO I, summer staff), approval of a baptism party’s alcohol permit at the community center, and a grant application to the state DOT.

Notably, the council is set to affirm its intent to bond for affordable housing if needed and to endorse the Housing Element and Fair Share Plan adopted by the Planning Board, both key steps in satisfying Westwood’s Fourth Round obligations under state affordable housing law.

The meeting follows a closed executive session at 7 p.m. to discuss pending litigation and personnel matters in the police and public works departments.

Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
