
WESTWOOD — The Borough Council’s work session on Tuesday, Oct. 7, will bring forward a full slate of policy and infrastructure discussions — from tax maps and drainage concerns to the future of library expansion and housing obligations under state law.
The meeting begins with a closed session at 7 p.m. to consider several matters, including personnel issues, property acquisition, insurance, a parking study, and Fair Share Housing. The public portion of the meeting is scheduled to open at 7:30 at Borough Hall, 101 Washington Ave.
Key Discussion Items
Council members are expected to hear a tax maps presentation and review the state’s Best Practices Inventory, which measures fiscal management. Other items slated for discussion include:
- Ongoing drainage issues across town
- Plans for a potential library expansion
- Updates to land use procedures and a draft land use amendment ordinance
- Progress on the community pump track project
- A new draft bicycle ordinance
- A look at holiday parking policy
- Westwood’s place in the state redevelopment plan
Ordinances on the Table
Two ordinances are scheduled for adoption:
- Funding of $7,000 from the Recreation Trust Fund to renovate gym bathrooms at the Community Center.
- Appropriation of $31,000 from the Capital Surplus Fund to purchase body cameras for the police department.
Consent Agenda Highlights
Resolutions up for consideration include:
- Employee evaluations with related salary adjustments.
- Appointments to the Board of Health.
- Funding for Boswell Engineering to begin Phase I of the Watershed Improvement Plan.
- Authorization to bid for vegetative waste services.
- Hiring substitute plumbing and mechanical inspectors.
- A revision and adoption of the borough’s employee handbook.
- Authorization to purchase Leyland cypress trees online.
