TEANECK, N.J.—From Bergen County’s clubhouse to ours: Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco joined members of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, the Parks Department, and Township of Teaneck officials to break ground on a new clubhouse at Overpeck Golf Course—marking the start of a $5.977 million project to upgrade one of the county’s most popular public courses.
A press release shared with us Thursday says plans call for a 2,774-square-foot clubhouse with a lobby and pro shop, food service, office space, and public restrooms, along with a 1,197-square-foot exterior deck for outdoor use. The project also includes a new 2,774-square-foot golf cart garage with electric charging stations to support up to 60 carts—improving both operations and sustainability.
“When I became County Executive, I made a commitment to preserve open space, protect the environment, and improve our parks,” said Tedesco. “Today’s groundbreaking is another example of that commitment in action. Overpeck is a jewel in the county’s park system. This investment strengthens the golf experience, supports the game’s continued growth, and keeps Bergen County at the forefront of public recreation.”

Commissioner Vice Chair Steven A. Tanelli, liaison to the Parks Department, noted that Overpeck is one of the county’s busiest courses.
“This investment ensures Overpeck stays a top-tier experience for years to come,” Tanelli said. “As more people take up the game, we’re focused on making improvements that are smart, sustainable, and accessible to residents.”
In 2024, Bergen County’s public golf courses saw more than 343,000 rounds played—a record high—making golf one of the Parks Department’s top revenue generators. Officials say the new clubhouse reflects a continued commitment to offering high-quality play at a public course price.
Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
Project partners include:
- RSC Architects (Architect of Record)
- Whitman (Environmental Engineer)
- Neglia Engineering (Civil Engineer)
- Epic Management (General Contractor)
- Strategic Planning Services
The project is part of the county’s broader Parks Master Plan—a multi-year effort to upgrade recreation facilities, preserve open space, and improve access to amenities across Bergen County.
Attending the groundbreaking were:
County Executive Jim Tedesco, Commissioner Chair Mary Amoroso, Vice Chair Steven A. Tanelli, Commissioner Tracy Silna Zur, County Clerk John Hogan, Teaneck Deputy Mayor Karen Orgen, Councilman Michael Pagan, a representative from Rep.
