DEMAREST, N.J.—On Oct. 5, 2019, Northern Valley residents can get a sparkling clean car while also helping children and their families who are mourning the loss of a loved one at a benefit car wash to be held at Northern Valley Demarest High School on Knickerbocker Road.
The car wash is sponsored by the high school’s DECA chapter, which is working with Good Grief, a statewide community service project whose mission is to provide unlimited and free support to children, teens, young adults and their families after the death of a mother, father, sister or brother through peer support programs, education and advocacy.
Additionally, the chapter will be offering baked goods for sale as another means to raise funds for this worthy cause. Leaders of the project, who stress that 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Good Grief, feel that it is important to reach out to those in need of support.
“Losing a beloved family member is a devastating occurrence. We are confident that the members of our community will support this worthy cause,” said Skyler Groh and Diva Kothari, co-organizers of the benefit and members of NV Demarest’s DECA chapter. DECA is a not-for-profit student organization for aspiring business leaders.
Those who are unable to take advantage of the car wash and would like to make a donation can send checks payable to NVD DECA c/o Northern Valley Demarest—150 Knickerbocker Road, Demarest, NJ 07627.
