Massachusetts man had marijuana 

On Dec. 21 at 6:24 p.m., officers approached a motor vehicle parked in a yellow non-parking zone on Hardenburgh Avenue and encountered a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. 

Officers conducted a search and discovered a clear Mason jar containing a greenish-brown leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Officers also found a plastic bag of cookies, believed to contain edible marijuana. 

The driver, a 22-year-old male from Cambridge, Mass., was charged with possession of over 50 grams of marijuana. He was also issued summonses for parking within 25 feet of a crosswalk, driving with an expired license, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. 

Assault leads to arrest of 22-year-old Westfield male  

On Dec. 22 at about 12:31 p.m., police received a call from the Englewood Police Department reporting that a female victim at Englewood Hospital was being treated there due to an aggravated assault that occurred at a single-family residence on Hardenburgh Avenue in Demarest.

Police arrived at the residence and charged a 23-year-old male from Westfield with aggravated assault. The man awaits a court date.

Maserati stolen from Pine Terrace driveway Dec. 21  

On Dec. 21 at about 1:30 a.m. police received a call of a reported stolen motor vehicle from a residence on Pine Terrace. 

The vehicle was a 2015 Blue Maserati, model GHI BLI. Police said the owner reported the vehicle was left unlocked with a key fob inside. Police are investigating the theft. 

As previously reported by Northern Valley Press, police officials advise all Northern Valley residents to remove key fobs from parked vehicles and lock their cars.
