TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.—Antonio Vinagre, Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 321, has completed his Eagle project: a dedicated outdoor reading area outside the Washington Township Public Library’s popular Children’s Room.

In order to complete his project—two semi-circular benches, a director/reader chair, 22 non-skid seat cushions, and a storage bench—Antonio submitted an application for approval, computed costs for materials, and organized and ran a fundraiser.

He also had to install the benches and chair into the ground. Arranging the assistance of fellow scouts, family, friends and neighbors he got the job done right—and he extends his thanks to all.

A former CCD teacher’s aide, Antonio knows many of the younger children in our community and says he hopes that they enjoy this special reading area.

While thanking the library staff for allowing him to create this reading area, Antonio presented the Washington Township Public Library with a check for $839, the surplus funds from his fundraising efforts, which will be used to maintain and enhance the space for years to come.
