The suspect accused of shooting two victims around 8:30 a.m. on April 10 in Englewood, then fleeing before eventually carjacking a woman in Hackensack, was taken into custody in East Orange by state police and is being held at Bergen County Jail.
Odari N. Green, 38, is accused of shooting two people near 233 West Palisades Ave., the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. The incident prompted local schools to go on lockdown as a precaution, according to multiple published reports.
“The two victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but both are in stable condition at an area hospital,” the BCPO. “Two additional unharmed victims were interviewed and reported that [Green] had attempted to shoot them, but his handgun malfunctioned.”
Green fled in a car that was later abandoned in Teaneck; He carjacked a woman at gunpoint in Hackensack, then took off in the victims car, the BCPO said. Cops spotted him in Maywood, and pursued him onto the Garden State Parkway, where he was eventually apprehended in East Orange, the BCPO said.
Bergen County Sheriff’s Department records show Green is being held at the county jail on nearly two dozen charges, including attempted murder and carjacking.
The incident was the second shooting in Englewood in recent days.
