DEMAREST—Discover the beauty of nature through oil and acrylic paintings on canvas in Rakefet Krochmal’s exhibit Everlight, on display at the Demarest Free Public Library, 90 Hardenburgh Ave., until Jan. 31.

Rakefet Krochmal, a proud Demarest resident, is a children’s book author, lecturer, and multidisciplinary artist. A devoted wife and mother of two daughters, Rakefet’s journey has been marked by incredible resilience. After battling a rare and severe illness, she emerged stronger, with a renewed appreciation for life’s beauty and a determination to embrace each day with gratitude.

Her art reflects this transformative journey, capturing the strength, hope, and perseverance that define her outlook. Each piece of her work offers a glimpse into the unique lens through which she views the world—a perspective shaped by challenges and triumphs alike.

The library posted Jan. 3, “The library is excited to begin displaying rotating local artwork throughout the year. Our very first display is up, and it features artwork from one of Demarest’s very own. Make sure you stop in the library during opening hours the whole month of January to view Everlight … We are so grateful that Rakefet has shared her colorful and expressive paintings with the library. Her paintings have filled the new Community Room, as well as along the main staircase.”

The library added, “You might recognize Rakefet from the children’s monthly Hebrew Storytime & Craft, as well as from the adult mandala workshop she led last year.”
