Residents across the Pascack Valley may hear or see military jets overhead this Sunday and Monday as two F-18 fighter jets operate out of Teterboro Airport for a scheduled flyover at MetLife Stadium.

Washington Township Police said the aircraft are supporting pre-game ceremonies for the 1 p.m. Packers vs. Giants game on Sunday, Nov. 16.

According to the flight schedule:

Sunday, Nov. 16

  • 12:45 p.m. — Jets depart Teterboro Airport
  • 12:57–12:59 p.m. — Flyover of MetLife Stadium
  • 1:04 p.m. — Jets return to Teterboro

Monday, Nov. 17

  • 10 a.m. — Additional F-18 departure from Teterboro

Police emphasized that the flights are planned, coordinated, and not a cause for alarm. The jets will temporarily stage out of Teterboro; their home squadron was not identified in public advisories.

What to Know About the F-18

Although the specific configuration was not named, the F/A-18 Super Hornet is one of the U.S. Navy’s primary carrier-based fighter jets. It’s capable of:

  • Supersonic flight (approaching Mach 1.8)
  • Air-to-air and air-to-ground missions
  • Precision maneuvering, which allows flyovers to be timed to the second
  • For ceremonial flights like Sunday’s event, the aircraft carry no weapons.
