DEMAREST—The Art School at Old Church is spotlighting the creative talents of its instructors this fall with the return of Salon 561: Annual Faculty Show, a wide-ranging exhibition opening Sept. 15 in the Mikhail Zakin Gallery.
Running through Oct. 31, the show features artwork created in the personal studios of the school’s faculty. The exhibit is presented salon-style, offering a comprehensive view of visual arts and crafts in mediums that span painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry, fiber arts, and more.
“Salon 561 is a wonderful opportunity for the public to see the artistry of those who teach here,” TASOC’s Justin Lerant told Northern Valley Press on Sept. 4. “It’s inspiring for students to witness the professional work their instructors pursue outside the classroom.”
The public is invited to a celebratory artists’ reception on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., where guests can meet the faculty, view the work, and enjoy light snacks and refreshments.

Founded in 1974 by visionary artists, The Art School at Old Church has grown into a vital community hub for creativity, welcoming more than 5,000 participants of all ages each year. Its adjoining Mikhail Zakin Gallery, named after the school’s late founder, serves as a professional exhibition space that bridges emerging and established artists with the community.
Proceeds from Salon 561 will benefit the school’s programs and financial aid initiatives, ensuring that art education remains accessible to students regardless of means.
The Mikhail Zakin Gallery is at 561 Piermont Road. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
