WOODCLIFF LAKE—The community is invited to come together with Mayor Carlos Rendo and others on May 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. in support of Ukraine.
Led by Rendo with local Ukraine activists Ola Parks and Yulia Klinchik, with support of the town’s Borough Council and local Rotary Club, the community will hold a family-friendly event, at Tice Senior Center, 411 Chestnut Ridge Road.
A “Support Ukraine” station will also be available at Woodcliff Lake’s Community Day, May 15.
It’s all to benefit those combatting the war in Ukraine. The invitation reads, “Donations are sorely needed in the form of medical supplies from anti-inflammatories to vitamins to bandages, along with articles for those defending the country such as footwear, socks, underwear, and sleeping bags. Civilians, especially families with small children, need diapers, wipes, baby formula and portable chargers among many other articles.”
It adds, “A pop-up gift shop will be available at the Tice Senior Center and financial donations will be accepted, 100% of all proceeds will go to the Ukraine effort. Parks says in the invitation, “Never has it been as important as now for us to unite and come together in support of Ukraine as they battle against terror and a dictatorship that is killing innocent civilians and children. I believe that with the support of the community, Rotary International and the office of Mayor Rendo, we can make a significant impact towards helping those most in need today.”
The event will host the community and encourages all to come and enjoy traditional Ukrainian food and music along with professional family photography activities and arts and crafts for families to enjoy.
Rendo says, “I believe we have a collective responsibility to fight against tyranny and that supporting these efforts can have an impact on those that need it the most. I support Ukraine and will continue to do so against the indiscriminate acts of the Russian government.”
