WOODCLIFF LAKE—Frank J. Fea, 24, of Middletown, N.Y., was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, at the intersection of Pascack Road and West Hill Road, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella on Aug. 4 and reporting by Daily Voice Tappan-Blauvelt.

At approximately 4:51 p.m., the Woodcliff Lake Police Department responded to a report of a serious collision involving a 2025 Honda motorcycle and a 2015 Kia. Officers from Woodcliff Lake, with assistance from local EMS, paramedics, and surrounding police departments, arrived on scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Fea was pronounced dead at the scene.

A joint investigation was launched by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Woodcliff Lake Police Department. Prosecutor Musella said the impact of the crash ejected Fea from the motorcycle, resulting in fatal injuries. No criminality is suspected, and no charges are expected.

Fea was well known in the regional wrestling community. According to Daily Voice, he served as an assistant wrestling coach at Don Bosco Prep from 2022 to 2023, and previously competed for Goshen High School and Castleton University in Vermont. He also coached at Bergen Catholic and was a resident coach at RedNose Wrestling School, where his younger brother, Nick Fea—a Division I wrestler at the University of North Carolina—trained.

“He had a heart of gold,” said Mike Foca, founder of RedNose Wrestling, in an interview with Daily Voice. “He was just a ball of energy—200 miles an hour is how he operated. He cared very much about the kids… He puts his heart into everything he does. He’s a beautiful human being with a beautiful soul.”

Foca, who knew Fea for more than a decade, recalled coaching him through high school and later welcoming him back as a mentor and developer of young athletes.

“He wanted to see Nick shine more than he wanted himself to shine,” Foca said. “That was a beautiful thing.”

According to Daily Voice, the Fea brothers were admired throughout the wrestling circuit for their dedication, team-building, and strong ties across clubs and schools. Fea also had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and had ridden dirt bikes and quads since childhood.

“He loved wrestling and riding equally,” Foca said.

A balloon release in Frank’s memory is being planned by his brother Nick for Monday, Aug. 4, in Nanuet.
