TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON—Two pairs of vehicles were involved in near-simultaneous crashes, northbound and southbound on the Garden State Parkway near East Glen Avenue, on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 10.
Photos that freelance photographer Boyd A. Loving sent to Pascack Press in the immediate aftermath show responders from the township’s police and fire departments and volunteer ambulance corps, Paramus EMS, an ambulance from The Valley Hospital, and NJ State Police Parkway Patrol on the job.
None of the injuries was reported as life-threatening. As investigators collected evidence, priorities included getting the injured needed care and clearing the road. NJSP, which is conducting the investigation, said multiple summonses could be issued.
Loving said the first accident occurred on the southbound side near East Glen Avenue just before 2 p.m. — a Honda Civic and Hyundai sedan, both of which ended up on the side of the parkway. Within moments, one vehicle rear-ended another near milepost 166.3.
All four vehicles were removed from the scene.
