TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON—The early registration deadline for the inaugural Washington’s Wicked 5K & Kids Fun Run is quickly approaching. Participants must register by Wednesday, Sept. 25 to take advantage of discounted pricing and secure a spot in the event, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20 at Gardner Field. After this date, registration fees will increase, and same-day registrants are not guaranteed a T-shirt.
This USATF-certified 5K will take participants through the scenic, tree-lined streets of Washington Township, with family-friendly Halloween costumes encouraged. The event is open to runners and walkers of all abilities, and participants will enjoy views of Halloween-themed homes and decorations along the course.
Pre-registration by Sept. 25 costs:
- $25 for ages 12 and up
- $15 for ages 5-11
- Free for children under 5
For those who register between Sept. 26 and Oct. 5, the fees increase to $30 for ages 12+ and $20 for ages 5-11. Same-day registration is available at $35 for ages 12+ and $25 for ages 5-11. Children under 5 are free, but t-shirts are not guaranteed for those who register after Oct. 1.
All 5K participants registered by Oct. 1 will receive a tech T-shirt.
“We’re excited to bring the community together for a fun, festive event,” said Councilwoman Daisy Velez, the race’s director. “This is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful streets of Washington Township, get some exercise, and celebrate Halloween.”
The Wicked 5K will begin at 9 a.m., with a warm-up at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in each age group.
For younger participants, the Kids Fun Run will start at 10:15 a.m., following a 10 a.m. warm-up. The Fun Run is open to children ages 11 and under, and each participant will receive a finisher’s medal and a cotton T-shirt if registered by Oct. 1. Age groups include:
- Ages 3 and under: Parent runs with child
- Ages 4 and 5: Optional parent-guided run
- Ages 6 and up: Independent run, if able
All proceeds from the event will benefit playground equipment for children in Washington Township.

- Kids Fun Run Warm-Up: 10 a.m.
- Kids Fun Run Start: 10:15 a.m.
