MONTVALE, N.J.—Mayor Michael Ghassali could have left his message at a warning about strict enforcement of a closure at the borough’s parks and recreation facilities, which runs through April 1.

But he went a bit sunnier than that.

After saying, “Stay home and do your part during these difficult times. Playdates, visiting friends and social gatherings are enjoyable times, but do your family and friends a favor for the next few weeks and stay home. Assume you have the virus and stay home,” he spoke of warmer days to come.

“I don’t know how else to tell you this, you are not welcomed to visit now, but I promise you we will have a big party and many block parties and celebrate this summer, and make up all these missed time,” he said.

He added, “Stay home unless you need to leave for food and essentials. It is not a lockdown but you are asked to do your part like everyone else. Assume you have the virus and stay home please.”

Meanwhile, the Environmental Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, March 16 has been moved to an online conference. The Planning Board meeting of March 17 is cancelled. The annual community dinner and raffle scheduled for Friday, March 27 has been postponed, as was the Senior Club’s St. Patrick’s Day Party.

Registration is open for Montvale 2020 Summer Recreation Camp.
