DEMAREST, N.J.—The Art School at Old Church is accepting registrations for its fall session, which begins on Monday, Sept. 9. The fall semester includes classes for kids, teens, adults, and families, as well as one- and two-day workshops.
The Fall 2019 catalog is available at tasoc.org, and interested students can register online, by phone, or in person.
“Our fall semester is full of returning favorites alongside new offerings,” TASOC says. “In addition to continuing to work in your favorite class, why not try something a little different? Here are just some of the exciting, new opportunities we have to offer.”
CLASSES
• Manga Expression: In this class, students will learn the basics of making their own Manga characters with unique facial expressions and poses in the anime style. Students will work in a variety of media to create their own interpretations of Manga characters and incorporate those characters into sequential images to form their own comics.
• Paper Revolution for Families: In this exciting class for families, explore how objects are created and experience innovation by putting together interesting objects with paper. Craft paper sculptures and costumes, papier-mache, origami, and more!
• Let’s Explore Art (for students with special needs): Students will have a hands-on experience and be introduced to all aspects of art creativities, from watercolor to drawing, Chinese painting to 3-D, and mixed media. Special attention will be given to each student’s individual needs and development.
WORKSHOPS
• Tell Your Story Through Book-Making: During this one-day workshop, create a book in which you can use your voice and tell your story with images, color, and words. By deciding on a theme at the beginning of the day, each student will then create pages using collage, drawing, and other image making and mark making techniques.
• Needle Felting: Reindeer and Snowmen: Looking for a heartwarming gift or handcrafted decoration for the holidays? This workshop is for you! Using only wool from the fluffiest of sheep, you can make a needle felted reindeer and snowman from scratch!
