TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J. — The weekend of Sept. 9-10 will feature two fundraisers to benefit Frankie, a 6-year-old Washington Township boy who suffers from epileptic seizures. At 16 months old, he had three brain surgeries, which controlled his seizures for a time. He has had more than 20 seizures in a day and is recuperating from brain surgery.
The Washington Township Swim Club fundraiser will be on Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 4 p.m. The tickets are $10 per person and $50 per family and may be purchased at the Swim Club. You are invited to bring your rafts and enjoy the heated Olympic-sized pool. The menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers and cold beverages. Create a memento with a photo op with local heroes and vehicles from the Township Fire, Police and Ambulance Departments. In Rhythm Entertainment is providing the DJ music, and the movie “Planes: Fire & Rescue” starts at 7:45 p.m. For more information, call the Swim Club at (201) 664-4434.
The Knights of Columbus Mother Seton Council fundraiser is its Annual Charity Picnic on Sunday, Sept. 10. Open to everyone, this event will run from 1-6 p.m. at the K. of C. Pfliegler Pavilion and Picnic Grove in the rear of 79 Pascack Road, Township of Washington. The festivities include activities for children and adults. There will be an assortment of large “inflatables” for the children and the traditional horseshoe and bocce ball tournaments for the adults. The menu will include barbecue ribs, chicken, pulled pork, flank steak, burgers and hot dogs, sausage and peppers, clams on the half shell and steamed, Jersey corn, watermelon, dessert and hot and cold beverages, including adult beverages.
Adult tickets purchased in advance are $25, $30 at the gate. Seniors (60 and over) pay $20 for tickets purchased in advance, $25 at the gate. Children 5 to 12 are $5, under 5 are free. There is a family cap of $60 for parents and children under 12.
