Growing River Vale townwide garage sale June 1 aids Helping Hand

See you there!

RIVER VALE—The Township of River Vale is hosting its Eighth Annual Town Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain date June 2. Approximately 70 households are expected to participate in this year’s event.

Participants are instructed to pick up a balloon from Town Hall, 406 River Vale Road, on June 1 from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. to identify their house to shoppers. Patrons can pick up a map of the garage sale in front of Town Hall during this time. This map includes participants’ addresses and lists the items for sale at each home.

Organizers say that, due to the growing number of participants, the lists have been divided into two groups: North River Vale and South River Vale. The list of participating homes is subject to change. The Township has made these items available digitally on its website.

The township encourages residents of all ages to participate in the sale. In an email to Pascack Press, Amy Salib, a director of Social and Cultural Affairs in River Vale, explained, “Some residents do more and add lemonade sales, or kids sell drawing, artwork, crafts/bracelets.”

When registering for the event, participants donated $20 each which will benefit the Helping Hand Food Pantry. The non-profit organization services approximately 400 neighbors every month from Emerson, Hillsdale, Oradell, Montvale, River Vale, Washington Township, Westwood and Woodcliff Lake. Salib said the event has raised $1,300 in donations this year.
