Police make arrests during motor vehicle stops
HAWORTH, N.J.—This section is based on data provided to the Northern Valley Press by neighborhood police departments. Due to pending court appearances and other variations, the following information shall be read in “press time” context.
• On Jan. 2 at 9:38 p.m., Officer Andrew Soltes charged a 29-year-old Closter woman with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after her car was stopped on Schraalenburgh Road.
• On Jan. 3 at 10:17 p.m., Soltes charged a 17-year-old boy from Park Ridge with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after a car he was riding in was stopped on Delong Avenue in Dumont.
• On Jan. 5 at 9:27 p.m., Soltes charged an 18-year-old Township of Washington woman with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after her car was stopped on Madison Avenue.
• On Jan. 5 at 11:30 p.m., Sgt. Gianluca Ragone charged a 25-year-old Upper Saddle River man with driving while intoxicated, after he smelled of alcoholic beverage during a Lake Shore Drive traffic stop. A breath analysis confirmed his blood alcohol content was 0.14 percent.
• On Jan. 8 at 10:21 p.m., Soltes charged an 18-year-old West Orange man and an 18-year-old Clark man with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after their car was stopped on Hardenburgh Avenue.
• On Jan. 14, Officer Kevin McKeary arrested a 37-year-old man from Hawthorne when he was found to have an active child support arrest warrant from Passaic County totaling $6,221, after his car was stopped on Sunset Avenue. He was turned over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department and issued a motor vehicle summons.
