HIT THE ROAD FOR CHARITY: Norwood Fast & Flat 5K will return Oct. 5

NORWOOD, N.J.—Presented by the Norwood Runners’ Association, the 15th running of the Norwood Fast & Flat 5K will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 9:30 a.m. at Kennedy Field. All runners, walkers, and baby strollers are welcome. 

Now a decade and a half established, the Norwood Fast & Flat 5K has been a popular, go-to race for runners all over Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Rockland, and other surrounding counties looking to run a new personal best time in a high-energy atmosphere. The race is also attended by a ton of recreational runners and walkers looking to get out and be active on a beautiful fall morning while taking part in a great cause. The race is USATF-NJ sanctioned and certified and is an official 500-point Grand Prix race. 

All runners who preregister are guaranteed a high-quality long sleeve tech tee, with both men and women’s sizing offered, and online-only registration with no additional signup fee can be accessed at Norwood5K.com. Teams of six or more runners are also invited to compete for the three fastest team awards being presented, with all pertinent info available at Norwood5K.com. Masters awards (top three fastest males and females over 40) are also offered, and large, full-color custom medals, along with generous gift certificates, are presented to all award winners three deep in five-year age groups! To date, the Norwood Fast & Flat 5K has raised hundreds of thousands that has been used to support in-town organizations such as the EMS, fire department, PTO, and library, as well as both local and national charities such as Salvation Army, Center for Food Action, Triple Negative Breast Cancer, CancerCare, American Heart Association, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Alzheimer’s Foundation, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 

Over 500 runners and walkers are expected this year, and there will be plenty of free food, coffee, refreshments, stretching, and massages. Parking is free and easy, and there is also a free fun run for all young kids, which is one lap around Kennedy Field, with all participants receiving a finisher’s ribbon.
