HILLSDALE, N.J.—Mayor John Ruocco writes Oct. 28 to say that he is pleased to announce that the governing body has hired Robert Gallione as interim borough administrator until the end of 2019.
“Mr. Gallione is well qualified for this important position, as he has served in that capacity at several municipalities over his long career, and was also mayor of Bergenfield for several years,” Ruocco says.
He adds that Gallione has held several administrative roles at Columbia University and has served as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Gallione will help the borough in its ongoing search for a permanent full-time borough administrator.
Ruocco announced as well that Tax Collector/Finance Assistant David Sireci has agreed to serve with the consent of the governing body as interim certified municipal financial officer for the remainder of the prior CMFO’s term, which expires Dec. 31.
Sireci will continue in his present roles while a search for a permanent part-time CMFO is conducted, Ruocco said.
Jonathan DeJoseph, Hillsdale’s Borough Administrator, Chief Municipal Financial Officer, and Qualified Purchasing Agent, announced his resignation effective Oct. 25.
He’d served in that position since early 2016 and was on the cusp of eligibility for tenure.
