TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON—The County of Bergen’s protect to overhaul the Pascack Road–Washington Avenue intersection is delayed a week or two. Motorists are advised to check the township police department’s social media posts for updates, and of course Pascack Press will have news as it’s available.

The township posted on its pages at 4:23 p.m., “Our PD was informed by the contractor the project will be delayed this week and most likely next week until the rest of the drainage pipe is delivered.”

For its part, the police posted, “The Washington Avenue & Pascack Road intersection project will be delayed until next week due to supply chain issues. Please monitor our social media for updates.”

We called the WTPD for more information. An officer told us, “We’re updating our social media daily, and by the minute, with anything that comes in. Obviously they started with the tree work yesterday [Aug. 1], and anything else is going to be a day-by-day basis with the posting. That way in case there’s anything with the construction — time constraints — at least that way we’ve posted, and everyone can see live.”

He added, “I wish I had more information for you. It’s been a long-awaited project.”

The project encompasses “the widening and resignalization of the intersection to provide left turn lanes and leading phases on all vehicle approaches, drainage upgrades, new sidewalk, accessible curb ramps, pedestrian phases with audible and countdown pedestrian signal indications, milling, paving, new signage, and striping.”

The work is anticipated taking six months. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. The town writes, “Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection if possible and expect some delays during these times. For updates on road closures, monitor the police department’s social media as well as the Township’s social media postings (the links are are at the top of page). Additional projects

Also among the county’s projects under construction: Montvale’s Magnolia Avenue Bridge Replacement.

“This project encompasses the replacement of the Magnolia Avenue Bridge (No. 020036B) and approach roadway improvement to meet current AASHTO/NJDOT standards. The Notice to Proceed with construction was issued to the contractor on Nov. 19, 2021. The bridge replacement and utility relocation requires full closure of the bridge to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  A detour will be established for vehicular traffic. Construction is anticipated to be completed in February of 2023,” the county says online.

IDA recovery projects included Woodcliff Lake’s Saddle River Road over Musquapsink Brook.

The county says, “The Saddle River Road culvert over the Musquapsink Brook was damaged during Hurricane Ida. The structure is located west of Werimus Road and east of Stacey Lane. The project has been completed. The roadway has been reopened for vehicular traffic.”
