HILLSDALE, N.J.—Stonybrook Swim Club is gearing up to open for the 2021 summer season after a yearlong closure due to Covid-19. Club members will again get the opportunity to enjoy Stonybrook’s five pools spread out over 12 beautiful acres.
The club is open to anyone who wants to join and offers a number of membership options to fit almost any interest or budget, from families to empty-nesters.
An open house is set for May 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. New members will receive 10% off their membership.
Partnering with Stonybrook pays off
After a challenging 2020, many local businesses will receive a welcome infusion of income from their partnerships with Stonybrook. More than 20 Bergen County vendors will renew their business with Stonybrook this year, from food and beverage companies to plumbing and pool management.
Stonybrook employs more than 80 seasonal employees, including lifeguards, snack bar and gate attendants. The club also fills the need of training options for local swimmers, including the Phoenix Swim Club.
Don Wagner, Phoenix Swim Club head coach, said that Stonybrook is a great partner the team is proud to call home.
“For the last nine years our swim team has practiced and competed at Stonybrook. We were unable to find suitable pool time last year due to all the local Covid closures. There are very few facilities that compare to the impressive layout of Stonybrook. Knowing I have access to this great facility from April to November will in turn help me rebuild my teams to pre-Covid numbers, and in turn help me build my business,” he said.
And stonybrook offers a broad range of activities beyond the pools. Members have access to the basketball court, playgrounds and daily activities for kids. The club also schedules themed parties, movie nights and hosts live music events.
Dan Sullivan, chairman of the Stonybrook Pool Commission, said Stonybrook is excited to now offer party rentals for both members and non-members in 2021.
“We can help people organize anything from a birthday party to a graduation party. Our spacious club naturally lends itself to a safe, socially-distant gathering.”
The club features a full-service snack bar, two gazebos and a pavilion for shade. Registration is open. Prospective members can join at hillsdalenj.org/stonybrook.
