HAWORTH, N.J.—Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Council 9021 of Norwood, will hold its annual Oktoberfest Dinner on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Sacred Heart Parish hall at 102 Park Street in Haworth.
“Enjoy the ‘Best of the Wurst’ dinner—including several varieties of premium wursts, potato salads, superb Oktoberfest Beer, wine, soda, coffee, tea, and desserts,” say organizers.
Prices are $20 for adults, $5 for kids under 13, with a family price max of $50. Seniors 65 and over with advance reservations are $17.50. Reservations are requested and can be made by in advance by contacting Jim Flynn, Knights Financial Secretary, at (201) 664-3364, or by emailing kofc9021@gmail.com, and then pay at the door between 6 and 8 p.m. All adults paying at the door without reservations are $20.
“Our Knights Council has directly served the Catholic Parishes in Old Tappan, Haworth, Norwood, River Vale, and Northvale since 1985 and has 140 members,” say organizers. “Our ‘Wurstfest’ dinner is one of several fundraisers we conduct during the year, including our Halfway to St. Pat’s Dinner, Shield Awards Dinner, Lenten Fish Fry, and Pasta Dinner. All proceeds from our events benefit our parishes, local communities, and the charitable projects of the Knights, along with support of men and women pursuing a religious vocation.”
Over the last 10 years, Immaculate Conception Council 9021’s successful events have helped raise about $300,000 for worthy charitable causes. These efforts continue during 2019-2020 with support to families through the Knights “Food for Families” program, donations to local parishes, support for those who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease, and religious events for disabled veterans in Paramus.
“Our annual ‘Baby Bottle Drive’ provides thousands of dollars in charitable aid for women’s pregnancy crisis centers,” they say.
The Knights of Columbus is a 137 year old worldwide Catholic fraternal and service organization with over 2 million members. During 2018 the Knights donated over $187 million dollars to charity and contributed over 70 million service hours. Some of the key charitable projects of the Knights in 2018 included disaster relief for Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas, support for the Special Olympics, significant efforts on behalf of persecuted Christians impacted by the conflicts in the Middle East, participation with Habitat for Humanity, and our Global Wheelchair Mission.
