HACKENSACK — The Bergen250 initiative continues its fall series of Revolutionary War Roundtable presentations with a lecture on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. Historian Robb Haberman will present “Surviving Through Community: Sgt. James Selkirk at the Morristown and Pompton Encampments.”
Haberman will explore the story of Sgt. James Selkirk, a Continental soldier whose experiences in winter encampments illustrate how community, resilience, and shared sacrifice helped sustain the army through extreme hardship. His talk will offer insight into the lived experiences of soldiers who relied on one another to survive and continue the fight for independence.
The event will be held in the 4th Floor Learning Center at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack. Haberman, known for his research on everyday lives during the Revolution, will detail the endurance and perseverance of Selkirk and his comrades, highlighting the importance of community bonds in the broader struggle for liberty.
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and early arrival is recommended.
