HILLSDALE, N.J.—The Hillsdale Free Public Library’s Color Our World summer reading program, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, kicked off its first week with colorful fun on the patio.

On Friday, more than 100 children stepped inside the new Balloon Globe experience. Saturday brought hands-on creativity, as dozens of young patrons made and tested their own bubble wands.

“Registration for the reading program is really strong this year,” said children’s librarian Cindy Greenwald. “It’s wonderful to see families leaving with stacks of books. The addition of other pure fun activities is a bonus, made possible by generous funding from the Friends.”

More colorful activities are planned through the summer and are listed on the library calendar at hfpl.org. Weather-dependent programs will be announced on the library’s social media.
