BERGEN COUNTY—Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrest of Nicholas G. Torres, 37, of Passaic, N.J. on charges of burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools.
The arrest is the result of a three-month investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, Musella said.
In May the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad initiated an investigation into a series of burglaries at doctors and real estate offices in Bergen and Middlessex counties, said Musella.
As a result of the evidence obtained, Torres was developed as a primary suspect in commercial burglaries in Maywood, Fort Lee, Oradell, Westwood, and Edison.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office—along with detectives from the Oradell, Westwood, and Edison police departments—executed a search warrant of Torres’ residence in Passaic, said Musella.
Torres was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of theft, a disorderly persons offense, and one count of possession of burglar’s tools. Torres had a detention hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Friday, Aug. 9, Musella said.
